Sustainability

The greenest phone is the one already made.

Most of a handset’s environmental cost is spent before anyone switches it on — mining the materials, manufacturing it, shipping it. Keeping a good phone in use for longer avoids all of that. It is the whole of what we do, rather than a project running alongside it.

Where we stand

A practical, honest approach

We do not claim to be perfect, and we do not describe ourselves as carbon neutral. Plenty of companies in this market do, and the maths behind those claims is often difficult to check.

Our actual impact is simpler and easier to verify: we help good phones stay in use for longer by refurbishing them properly, backing them with a warranty and returns, and telling customers plainly what condition a device is in and what its battery health is.

No trees, no offsets, no badges

Extending the working life of a phone that already exists is the substantive environmental action available to a refurbisher. Everything else is marketing on top of it. We would rather do the first part well than talk about the second.

Why it matters

Why refurbished is the more sustainable choice

The environmental cost of a smartphone is overwhelmingly front-loaded. Refurbishment works by spreading that cost across a longer working life.

What we do

How we keep devices in service

Our refurbishment approach is built around making phones dependable enough to stay in use, which is the point of the whole exercise. Every device is prepared to our refurbishment standard.

Recycling

How to recycle old phones and electricals in the UK

If you are replacing a device, recycling the old one responsibly matters — and selling it to us is not the only route. In the UK, waste electricals fall under the WEEE regulations, which exist to keep electrical waste out of landfill and improve how it is collected and treated.

If your handset still has value, our trade-in service pays you for it. If it does not, the resources here will point you somewhere that will take it properly.
