Our testing standard
10 stages50+ individual checks
What we check before a phone goes on sale.
Every refurbished phone we sell goes through a structured set of checks before it is listed. This page is the short version, so you can see the key areas at a glance.

The check
Our 10 Step Refurb Check
Ten stages, run in order, combining MobiCode automated diagnostics with hands-on inspection. A device only moves forward when the stage before it is clear.
IMEI and lock status
IMEI checked against the CheckMend register through our MobiCode diagnostics, iCloud and FRP confirmed unlocked, and the handset verified as network-unlocked before anything else happens.
Visual inspection
We inspect the frame, rear housing, screen, camera surrounds, charging port and buttons for damage or poor previous repairs.
Screen and touch
Pixels, brightness, colour consistency and touch responsiveness are all verified.
Buttons and ports
Power, volume and mute controls, the charging port and the SIM tray are each tested.
Cameras and audio
Front and rear cameras, microphones, speakers and vibration are checked.
Face ID and Touch ID
Biometric recognition is tested where the model supports it.
Connectivity
Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and 4G or 5G mobile signal are tested.
Sensors
Proximity, accelerometer and gyroscope checks.
Battery health
Every phone we sell has a minimum of 85% battery health.
Wipe, grade and pack
Previous user data is securely wiped using MobiCode, the handset is graded on visible wear, checked against its description and storage, then cleaned and packed.
When something fails
What happens if a phone fails a check?
A device that does not meet our functional, battery or condition standards is not simply passed through for sale. Depending on the issue, it may be repaired and retested, or removed from sale entirely.
Graded on what it is
Cosmetic grading happens after functional testing, and separately from it. A phone that works perfectly but shows wear is graded honestly rather than talked up.
