Our returns and warranty policy, in full.
This page sets out the formal policy for devices bought from Used Phones 4 U. If you just want to start a return or report a fault, the Returns & Refunds help page is the quicker route.
Returns
30-day returns promise
We offer a 30-day returns period on eligible device purchases. To return a device, complete the online returns form so our team can review the request and give you the correct return instructions.
Your statutory rights are separate
Your consumer rights sit alongside our returns promise and warranty — they are not reduced by them. Online customers may also have cancellation rights under UK consumer law, and faulty goods may carry additional statutory remedies.
Cover
What is covered
Faulty devices
If a device arrives faulty or develops a fault, contact us through the returns form as soon as possible. Depending on the nature of the fault, the age of the order and the applicable rights, the remedy may be repair, replacement, refund or another resolution.
18-month device warranty
Eligible devices carry an 18-month warranty covering qualifying hardware faults arising in normal use, subject to the exclusions below. It is an additional benefit and does not replace or limit your statutory rights.
12-month battery cover
Eligible devices carry 12-month battery cover, and are sold with at least 85% battery health at the point of sale. Capacity reduces naturally with age and use — that is different from a qualifying battery fault.
Exclusions
What the warranty does not normally cover
Faults or damage caused by any of the following fall outside the warranty.
- Liquid or water damage
- Accidental, deliberate or impact damage
- Dropping, crushing or other physical mistreatment
- Unauthorised repair, modification or adaptation by the customer or a third party
- Jailbreaking, unauthorised unlocking or other unsupported software modification
- Improper use of accessories
- Normal cosmetic wear such as scratches, scuffs or marks that do not affect functionality
These exclusions do not remove any statutory rights you may have where a device was faulty, not as described, or otherwise failed to meet the legal standards that applied when it was supplied.
Water resistance
Refurbished devices and IP ratings
Some models were originally manufactured with an IP water-resistance rating. Because a refurbished or previously repaired device may no longer retain the manufacturer’s original water-resistance performance, we do not recommend intentionally exposing a refurbished device to water or other liquids.
Liquid damage is not normally covered by our warranty unless a statutory right applies in the particular circumstances.
Parts
Replacement parts and display messages
Refurbished devices may contain replacement parts where appropriate. Any parts fitted during refurbishment must meet our functional testing standards. We do not use the presence of an old model-specific display notification as a blanket warranty disclaimer.
If you have a question about a replacement part, display notification or repair history on a particular handset, contact us and we will review that individual device.
